Healthy Diet Tip:
|
If you want to be healthy, here's a simple diet tip... eat natural unprocessed foods instead of foods that come from laboratories and scientists.
No matter how much technology evolves, I believe that man will never be able to surpass Mother Nature's superior quality.
This is a great video with a lot of fun nutrition facts.
Isn't that interesting!
Here are some of the highlights from the video...
Diet Tip: Eat Bananas versus Gatorade
To get the Potassium content of 1 banana, you would have to drink 216 ounces of Gatorade, which is 1.7 gallons of Gatorade.
In addition, the banana will only have 200 calories and 27 grams of sugar (an unprocessed sugar, by the way). However, the Gatorade will have 1350 calories and 378 grams of processed sugar.
Next time, I have a hard workout I know which one I'll reach for.
An Apple versus a can of Coke
An apple has fiber, minerals, and antioxidants and contains around 65 calories for a medium sized apple. A soft drink has about 210-240 and contains chemicals like phosphoric acid.
3-4 apples have the same calories as one 12 ounce can of soft drink. Now, think about how many times you or others drink a 32 ounce soft drink... Yikes that's nearly 3 times the calories!
Quarter Pounder Meal (not supersized) versus apples
A Quarter Pounder Meal from Mc Donald's contains about 1330 calories; whereas, an apple contains around 65.
You would have to eat about 20 apples to get the same amount of calories that you'd get from the Quarter Pounder Meal.
Diet Tip: Eat an orange versus orange juice
This one is surprising to most people because orange juice is always marketed as a healthy drink, but many nutritionists that I have spoken with recommend drinking orange juice in moderation and restrict ti in some of their weight loss clients.
Any time a food is processed it loses some of its nutritional value, and it puts more of a burden on the digestive system.
An orange has around 60 calories, 12 grams of unprocessed sugar, and 4 grams of fiber. However, just 1 cup of orange juice has twice the calories, twice the sugar (processed sugar), and zero fiber.
Summary
If you want to lose weight and be healthy, nearly every nutritionist will recommend eating natural unprocessed foods instead of junk foods that are highly processed.
No matter how much marketers will say that they have come up with a better way to make food, always trust mother nature-- mother knows best!
