Supersize Me: McDonald's French Fries Don't Decompose!

SuperSize Me is an Academy Award-nominated 2004 documentary film written, produced, directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker.

In the movie, Morgan Spurlock eats all of his meals from McDonald's for 30 Days. That's right breakfast, lunch, and dinner only from McDonald's.

Needless to say he gains weight, but he also experiences a myriad of health problems, especially problems with his liver.

At the end of the dvd, there are some bonus clips, and one of the bonus clips shows what happens to items on the McDonald's menu if they are left in glass jars for an extended period of time.

After a few weeks, the sandwiches and burgers get moldy and start to decompose, but after 10 weeks the French Fries look as they did the day they were purchased.

The point the video makes is that there are so many preservatives in the French fries that they don't decompose or break down like normal food should.

Since the French Fries have so many chemicals in them, they can slow down the metabolism and really cause people to gain weight.

It's a shame that the intern threw away the fries after 10 weeks. It would be interesting to see how long the fries would last before they started to decompose.

Oh wait.

Someone else did the same experiment to see how long McDonald's French Fries would last.

I don't know about you, but I definitely thought differently about eating McDonald's French Fries after I saw the movie Supersize Me.

If you're trying to lose weight, it should be obvious that you should restrict your intake of fast food. It may taste good, but it's just not healthy and causes weight gain.

And even though McDonald's is featured in this movie, it's not the only fast food restaurant that puts preservatives on their French fries.

If you've never watched the movie Super Size Me, I highly recommend it. It will give you a totally different perspective on fast food, health, and weight loss.

If you're serious about losing weight, you should avoid fast food restaurants. Cook your own meals whenever possible, and exercise regularly.

Food is Medicine...Treat Your Body Well.

Yours in Health,
Charles
