7 Steps to Losing Belly Fat Forever

Lesson #3: Good Abdominal Exercises Are Not Always Enough
To Help You Lose Belly Fat

Today, I want to talk to you about good abdominal exercises, and I hope you're feeling better now that you've modified your sugar intake.

Lesson #3: Good Abdominal Exercises by themselves aren't enough.

I know this can be a bummer for a lot of people, but there is no magic stomach exercise that can by itself burn off fat from your stomach.

This is the biggest myth in fitness.

The myth is that you can spot reduce body fat. Spot reduction means that by doing exercises that work the muscles in a spot you will reduce the body fat under the skin at that spot.

But that is not how the body works. We all store fat under our skin in a pattern based on our genetics. The only way to decrease fat in a spot is to decrease fat all over.

We all have more fat in some spots and those are the same spots that show the slowest progress. If you want to have a flat stomach, you have to be in good overall shape and have a healthy or athletic body fat percentage.

Here's an analogy for you. If you think of a bath tub filled with water, you'll notice that there is more water near the drain because the tub is sloped. Imagine saying, "I don't like all the extra water down at the bottom of the tub".

Now if you wanted to try to spot reduce, you would take a bucket and try to take water from near the drain. After you scooped out water from near the drain, you would notice that the entire level of the tub would decrease, but there would still be more water (fat) near the drain.

The reality is that you will always have more fat in some areas compared to other areas because that is the way we are built. But as you get in better shape, your stomach fat will whittle away and leave you with a nice flat stomach.

Why do Abdominal Exercises?

So if Stomach exercises don't get rid of belly fat, why do them?

There are many reasons to do stomach exercises.

First, they help to develop your abdominal muscles. When you do ab exercises, your stomach muscles get more toned. If you are near your ideal weight and have a healthy body fat percentage, stomach exercises can make a significant difference in the way your body looks.

Also, stomach and ab exercises help to strengthen your core muscles, protect your lower back from injury, improve sports and daily activities, and they are essential for overall fitness and movement.

When constructing a workout routine, think about challenging your muscles in many different ways. Do exercises that move forwards and backwards like crunches and back extensions, do movements that involve twisting and rotation, and do exercises that bend your body to the side.

Instead of doing the same routine month after month vary your workout every 3-6 weeks. If your workout feels easy try to increase the challenge by picking harder exercises or doing a few more repetitions or sets per exercise.

In my ebook personal training secrets to lose belly fat and get a flat stomach, I wrote a chapter with over 50 good abdominal exercises and 100 abdominal workout routines. You can use one of the routines listed in the book or make up your own using a simple system I'll teach you.

Even though good abdominal exercises don't magically melt off belly fat they are still really important. I always recommend abdominal exercises for people looking to improve their midsection, but I also recommend cardio, weights, stretching, and healthy eating.

You have to take a full comprehensive approach to losing belly fat. You have to focus on everything if you want to get a flat stomach not just good abdominal exercises.

I'll be in touch in the next couple of days to talk to you about how weight training helps you get a flat stomach and how cardio helps you lose belly fat.

Until then, start working your abs and keep avoiding processed sugar.
